Potty Training

Ugh...Potty Training...I am NOT looking forward to this!  With both Grant and Alayna I started training shortly after they turned 2 (like 2 and 2 mos or less even with A I think).  I would say it didn't go terrible, but it also didn't go great.  I "took" them potty - they didn't really "tell" me when they had to go potty for quite a while.  SO - this time around I said I was waiting...til he was VERY READY.  I've had too many friends who've told me they waited til almost 3 and it happened in a weekend.  Yes - lots of diapers, but 2 days sounded blissful :)
I figured we were still quite far from potty training because he wouldn't sit on the potty for more than 3 seconds at a time and that was right before heading into the tub.  Well - today, he grabbed a pair of Grant's underwear b/c they had Sesame Street on them (Bert & Ernie).  He said "wear it?".  He needed a diaper change so I said he could put them on on top of his diaper.  Aunt Jayme stopped over for a few hours because she is in town for work.  So she offered to change his diaper - what an awesome Aunt!  Anyway - she tried putting a new diaper on Landon and he wouldn't have it.  So - he came down in just undies with Aunt Jayme saying "you have to keep them dry and pee pee on the potty".  So - he sat a lot and got about 2 dribbles in the potty in the process went through a few pair of undies.  After wetting the first pair and after I explained he couldn't wear them anymore - he wanted "new ones".  We went to his room and when he saw he had several pair to pick from...he wanted to wear "two" (which turned into 5 - only because we hid the last 2 pair).  So he wore 5 pair of undies...the next time he wet - it went through the first 3 pair.  The next time he wore two (the 2 of the 5 still dry) and jammies...a little later they were soaked.  All of them...and his socks :)  He came running to Aunt Jayme though saying "wet!" and pointing to his pants.  So - he's starting to get it.  I thought he had been sitting on the living room floor, but there was no visible puddle.  I later found the dribbly trail from the train table and across the wood floor.
We then put one last pair on that he kept dry through dinner and until bath time.  I believe the last I saw of that pair - he was trying to put them on his head.  Oy!  He is pretty funny!  This will be a journey!  I haven't decided if we are truly "starting" yet.  I guess it might depend on how he acts in the morning.  If he asks to wear undies again - maybe it will be happening sooner than I thought.

 When Mommy said "only one"
and then "only two" (he was excited when he got them pulled up in the front, not realizing the back wasn't over his butt, and declared "I dot it!")
he was determined to do three...
 four...

and five by himself (with a little help from Aunt Jayme who couldn't take it when he was trying so hard to get them on himself, but putting his foot through the leg hole up-side-down.
blue, red, light blue, light blue, grey = 5

 Thanks Aunt Jayme :)
And by bath time, he was wearing underwear on his head and not on his butt :)

Zoo in the Fall

We haven't been to the zoo in a while and I LOVE the zoo in the fall!  There was no school today for Grant or Alayna, so we made our way there with a few friends.  Even though the temps were cold, the sun was out and it was a great day to run around at the zoo.  There weren't a ton of people and the colors were fabulous!

Popcorn

Mommy checked a movie out from the library - The Lorax, Daddy was gone late one night and we ate dinner early - so we had movie night before bed.  We also got to have popcorn!  It was the first time she finally let me have some!  YUM - I love it!

A Great Sunday Afternoon

Today was a great Sunday afternoon.  We started out by watching the Packers!  Here's Daddy with 2 of his best Packer buddies!
Then we headed off to do a little hiking on a nature trail near our home.

It was fun to find this little pond.  Grant was still in his Packer gear!
Love this below...if I only I knew how I got the pic to look like this. :)

 He's getting old on me!
Don't they look like best friends :)  Hehe!
He looks like he's got a little bit of "stinker" in him right?  He does!
 Fun afternoon!
My boy loves sticks!

Grandparent's Day

It was Grandparent's Day at Alayna's school today.  She was so lucky to have both Grandpas and Grandmas join her at school.  Sounded like everyone had a good time - enjoying singing, poems, etc by the kids, making and eating snacks and having reading time together.  Thank you all for coming!

Landon is 2!

How in the world did this happen?  A few short moments ago I gave birth to an amazing little boy, then I blinked and now he is 2!  We had a great day celebrating Landon today.  We started with our traditional birthday breakfast at Ted's Diner in Tosa.  I didn't think he'd go much for the strawberry & cream covered pancake like the other two kids, but it is the most fun to have decorated and sing with - so we ordered it!  I was right...he passed on the pancake and ate most of my eggs and a little sausage instead.  Then we headed on to swim at Gramma Mary's pool.  We haven't been there in SOOOO long b/c mommy thinks it would be a little tough to take all 3 kids by myself and when we had a chance in our busy summer schedule to go...it was freezing!  BUT - we went today and had a BLAST!  THANK YOU!!!!  Home for naps and then on to our busy Tuesday night activities with Alayna's skating lessons, dinner at Burger King and hockey for Grant.  Now he is off - to the land of nod.  I sure hope life slows down a little bit.  My youngest baby just turned two, my little girl starts 4K on Thursday and well Mr Grant...he's off to Kindergarten on Tuesday.  This is a lot for one momma to handle in a week!

Landon at age 2:
- Size 4 diapers
- Size 18-24 mo clothes for the most part
- Loves to wear his crocs
- More LOVES: bath time, milk, playing outside, Papa/Grandpa, Elmo, "lala" (music), trucks/tractors
- Is a snuggler after waking up.  Give him a cup of milk and your lap to sit on.
- Still refuses to use sippy cups with hard tops...nuby cups are all he will use (stinker!)
- Foods: peaches, apples, corn on the cob, melon (cantaloupe and watermelon), noodles
- Pinches or scratches when he's not happy with what you are doing.  It hurts...he's had many many timeouts
- He tries to be Mr. Funny Guy
- Waves "silly" to Daddy in the morning when he leaves.  Thumbs by ears, tongue out, blahblahblah
- Still points to any man over the age of 45ish and says "Papa?"  If this is said to you - please don't be offended.
- Starting to get into trucks.  Had a Trucks & Digger 2nd birthday party.
Went to Ted's for breakfast...a family tradition.  Ordered strawberry whip cream pancakes with a loader on top.  He actually at my eggs and sausage...wanting nothing to do with pancakes!
 My little buddy
Then off to swimming at Grandma Mary's house!  Thank you so much for letting us come!
So much fun getting thrown up by Daddy
"MORE"

Happy Birthday Landon!  We love you SOOOOOO Much!
