Grant has a favorite book - Baby Animals - he does quite a few animal sounds, says puppy, pig, etc and since bunnies don't make any sounds - he makes a "bunny nose". ENJOY!

IT'S A GIRL!!!!

Baby Meidam #3 is here....and IT'S A GIRL! Alayna Mae Meidam arrived this morning at 9:13am (2/15/09). She is 5lbs 15oz and 18 inches long. She is doing great. Has slept a lot today - had one pretty good feeding - hoping that will go a bit better (more frequent at least) tomorrow.
Everything went fast. I woke from contractions at 2:30 am, we left for the hospital about 7:45, registered at the hospital at 8:03 and Alayna arrived by 9:13. This is very quick! So quick that I was given the epidural - but it kicked in fully AFTER she was here! Oh well - she was well worth it!
I still can't believe this baby is here and the she is really a girl.
Grant came to see his little sister today. He seems to be ok with her - not a huge reaction either way yet. I miss him-but he will be well taken care of I'm sure!

We were hoping to post pics but for some reason I have been having problems posting pics the last few days - not sure why - but they won't load. Anyone else having that issue? know how to fix it?

Can't wait for you all to meet her!

Grant Day

Today was "Grant Day"! Mommy and Daddy took the day off to spend the whole day with me - just me - before my baby brother or sister comes. First we had to take Mommy to the dr - it was just for a regular visit. They said everything looks good again and mommy is at about 2cm. A week ago it was 1-2 and this week 2 - that doesn't seem like a lot of progress to me. I think that baby likes it in there.


After that - we needed to go to the store to look for a closet organizer for my new bedroom. It's not a very big room so mommy and daddy want to make the most of the room in my closet and hope to not need a dresser then. That way maybe I can have more of my toys in my room :) This wasn't too exciting for me - so I took a little nap while they did this.
Next we went out for lunch. My first vote was Mc Donalds, but we were downtown and couldn't find one - so we went to Rock Bottom. I had chicken strips and french fries. It was pretty good! Guess what mommy did - she "dipped" my french fries and chicken in this white stuff they called ranch dressing. I thought I was done eating, but once I tried that and realized how good it was - I kept eating!


THEN - after lunch we went to the Children's Museum. This was a lot of fun! We walked around and saw all of the things the bigger kids can do - can't wait til I get big - it will be fun! Then we found the area just for me. There were pots and pans to pound on, a big sand box (I got some on mommy - oops), slides, a wooden bridge to go over, ramps to go up and down and much, much more. We spent about 1.5 hrs playing!

37 Weeks

We are now at 37.5 weeks with Baby Meidam #3. It's getting closer and closer to the time when we get to meet this little one! We are pretty excited - but also thinking we are not quite ready. We have a lot to do with Grant's room. This weekend we (ok - Brian) - did get quite a jump on the room - the carpet is pulled out, it has been painted, the ceiling has been fixed. Now we just have to get new carpet, finish the ceiling and touch up the painting and put in a closet organizer that will allow us to eliminate using a dresser to save space in his room. Hopefully it all gets done - but if not - that will be ok too.

At my last visit I was 1-2 cm. Progress - yes - however I also realize I could be at this point for weeks. So - let's not hold our breath :) My non-stress tests continue to look good. I have another one tomorrow. The baby has been pretty active tonight - I can tell it's getting a bit tighter in there for them though - the movements are more rolls instead of big kicks.

Off the Charts

We had Grant's 15 month appt this past week. I know - I can't believe he is 15 mos either - but he is! At his 12 mo appt he weighed 19lbs 8 oz. This meant he was in the 10th percentile for weight and he still had to sit backwards in his carseat. Being in the 10th percentile was ok with the dr at that point b/c he had been consistant with this since about month 4 of his life.

WELL - at is 15 month appt - he officially fell off the charts - the wrong end :( Grant now weighs 19lbs 10 oz - just 2 oz more than at month 12! This is CRAZY!!!! He hasn't been sick, he eats TWO breakfasts every day (one at home and one at school), eats a decent lunch and dinner with a snack or two throughout the day, drinks his whole milk, etc.

So - what do we have to do? Jam pack the calories into his little diet :) He is most likely not going to just start eating more - so when he does eat we have to make sure he is eating a ton of calories. So - butter everything, lots of cooking oil, whole milk yogurt, etc. Grant has to eat how we all wish we could eat. I'm just going to have to make sure the calories he is eating are the healthy fat calories and not just a bunch of calories.
SOOOOO...this will be interesting! I've never felt I've been "good with food" - as far as cooking, calorie counting, knowing what foods have what, etc - I guess I am about to get much better. If anyone has any suggestions on high calorie, healthy, yummy food options you feel a 15 mo old would love - PLEASE let me know :)

The pediatrician said we should bring him in in another 6 weeks or so - when we have the baby in for one of their regular visits - and just do a weight check on Grant to make sure what we are doing is working.

Other than the weight - he is now 29 3/4 inches long, has a good vocabulary (repeats about 20-25 words now) and is wanting to be involved in everything we do (especially his daddy). Grant's "Big Boy Room" is coming along. The old is all moved out, the carpet is ripped out, walls were painted today and the ceiling is in the process of being fixed. It will get there!

Fourth Tooth

Grant's 4th tooth is coming in! Another top one. He will now have 4 in a row on the top. Hopefully we will see a bottom one or two here shortly so we can start giving him some foods that are a bit harder to chew.

He's saying more and more words - Happy Birthday, socks, "ROAR!" (like a lion), "MEOW", snacks.... He's also becoming more mischievous - pulling out cords, wanting to stick cords (that don't belong in the outlet) in the outlet, playing with the TV buttons, etc.

He's so much fun - we love him :)

The Big Move

On Saturday my daddy moved his big desk out of what is going to be my new room. A couple of his friends came to help. The first two pieces were heavy but pretty easy to move out. The actual desk part though took a good 30-45 mins to move about 20 feet and through 4 doorways. a BIG THANKS to Scott and Jeanette for their help! Then Daddy had to take it to Grandma and Papa's house b/c they are letting us store it there. My other Grandpa helped unload it - THANKS Grandpa. That seems like a lot of work for a desk - but that means my new room is one step closer to getting done.

It is a smaller bedroom, but looks much bigger without that big desk in it :) I like it and told mommy I couldn't wait for it to be my new room.
