2 Month Dr Appt

On Monday I went to the dr for my 2 mo check up. I'm doing great! I'm up to 11lbs 12oz and 23 inches long - both are the 50th percentile. My head is about 25th percentile. The dr said I need to keep working on tummy time (as do all kids my age) and will likely be rolling by my next appt at 4 mos. WOW! Sounds exciting.
I had to get some crummy shots too! They were no fun, but I did ok. Mommy was there taking pictures - what was she thinking? I don't want you all to see me like this. I slept most of the afternoon when we went home and even through trick-or-treating that night.

What are some of Mommy's favorites about me these days?
- my smiles...I'm starting to give them a bit more freely
- when I "talk" to her
- when I hold her shirt, finger or hand while eating (nursing)
- when I fall asleep in her arms Sometimes when there are a million things to do, she just sits with me because she knows this won't last forever.

What does she not like? Well - I've been finding my thumb on occasion. She must not like that b/c she always tries to stick my nuk in my mouth when I do that. Hmmm...I wonder why?

Pumpkin Carving

Today we carved pumpkins for the first time! Daddy helped us mostly...Mommy did just a little bit.
Digging out 'pumpkin brains' (that's what Daddy calls them)
Daddy tricked me...shook my hand with "pumpkin guts" in his hand
More cleaning out
This was one of the patterns we used for our cool pumpkin faces
Happy Halloween!

Trick or Treat

Happy Halloween! Saturday night we went trick or treating with the Young Families group from our church. We had chili and hot dogs for dinner and then off we went. It was a lot of fun! We made it about 2 blocks and were too cold to do more (and Alayna kept asking to ride in the wagon and eat her candy).
Here's the group - minus a couple of the smallest members
Giraffe (Landon), Puppy (Grant), Froggy (Alayna)
"Trick-or-Treat" Here we are with Buzz Lightyear and Jessie
Landon's first Halloween

Just hanging out with Layna...

2 Months

Oct 27 - I turned 2 Months old! Crazy - time is FLYING (according to my Mommy anyway). I'm still a GREAT baby. Mommy and Daddy are pretty blessed! We go in Monday to see how big I am. I'm a great eater and a spectacular sleeper. I do about 5-6 hours at night and still sleep a lot during the day. Generally me crying means I'm hungry - if that's not it it's probably gas and if that's not it - Mommy has NO idea b/c I rarely get to that step :) I'm starting to be awake a bit more throughout the day, but if you put me in my carseat - I generally just sleep the whole time we are out and moving around. I love my mobile in my crib (Grant and Alayna call it a mobi-bile). I enjoy playmat time and bat at my animal friends. If they put me in the swing - that generally means I'm in for a really long nap - it puts me right out for a good 2-3 hrs sometimes. The bouncy seat is fun...I've got animals to stare at there too!

What else am I up to? Well - I've started smiling. Mommy loves it! The other night I even started adding a little noise with my smiles - that was sorta fun! Kinda crazy the stuff they say to me and the faces they pull to make me smile, but I humor them :)

Stats - not sure on size yet, but in 0-3 mo clothes for the most part, size 1 diapers, sleeping 5-6 hrs at night, still nursing full time, loving bath time (as long as the water is warm).
Landon at 2 mos - who do you think he looks more like?
Grant at 2 mos
Alayna at 2 mos

More Smiles...

Here I am...smiling again :) I just had a bath...so not only am I cute, but I smell good too.

Pumping

Accomplishment of the summer...Alayna can PUMP! She's been trying all summer and usually only getting the part where you have to stick your legs out - not so much on pulling them back. But...I do think she's got it now. It would be a bit better for her if she was just a hair taller. Right now she tries to push off the ground while getting on the swing to get going and her little butt is hardly on the swing. Oh well - she keeps going with it!

Smiles

We're getting more smiles these days :) We still have to work for them...not a lot of siling just because, but he's giving them out to those who work for them!

A BIG Day!

Sunday, Oct 23 was a great day! First we celebrated Landon's Baptism and then Grant's 4th Birthday (Nov 4). Such wonderful things to celebrate and we had great family to celebrate with.
The Meidam Baptism gown. This gown has been worn for generations! I should have taken the picture before he wore it, when it was beautifully pressed, but I didn't. Grant, Alayna and now Landon all wore this gown.
Above are all the people in our family who have worn the gown. Great Grandpa Meidam, Papa (Brian's Dad), Brian and his sister, his sister's 3 kids and ours. What a great tradition.
We were so happy that Great Grandpa and Grandma Meidam and Great Grandma Schmidt were able to make it.
A big day - he did awesome. The Pastor commented that he must like bathtime because he didn't make a peep when the water was poured on his head.
Baptism blanket made by Grandma Kok to match the blankets Grant and Alayna had made by Great Grandma Vande Zande
Cake "God Bless Landon Charles" I asked for white frosting with blue trim. Somehow I ended up with yellow writing. Oh well - it all tastes the same, but for the record - I did not request yellow writing.
It was a big day! Under his gown he wore this sleeper that says "Thank Heaven for Little Boys"

And since our family was in town for the baptism celebration, we decided to celebrate Grant's 4th birthday too! 4 - really? Can it really be possible?
This year's party - sports! (easy cake - round ball!)
One of his presents - a camera. He was all about taking pics of everything! If you asked him what he wanted for his birthday - he would have told you a camera.
All of our cousins.

Grant was silly when opening gifts. Reacting to what he saw when he opened a gift. Excited, embarrassed, etc. He's also repeating more and more (both good and bad) things he hears others say and ask questions about what words mean. The other day I said something about being lonely. Grant - "what does lonely mean mom?"

It was a wonderful day. We were thankful all of our family was able to celebrate with us. We are very blessed!

Dancing Animals

Trying to make these animals dance...
Here I got it a little:
And here I'm just smiling doing it :)

Swinging

At first it didn't seem like Landon was a huge fan of the swing, but now he seems to love it. At least it has been putting him to sleep lately when his bed wasn't doing the trick :) He'll sleep in the swing for hours.

Playmat Time

Landon's really getting more active playing on his playmat. I'd say this started about 6/6.5 weeks. So fun to watch him grow!

3 Kids in the Tub

This was as close as I could get to 3 Kids in the Tub. I don't think they would be too comfortable if Landon's tub was in the big tub with them, so they have a few more months of baths just the two of them. :)

Music Class

Alayna started a 10 week music class through the Rec dept. Grant and Alayna both did it last year, but now Grant is in preschool at the time of the class. Alayna loves to sing and when I told her about it she was so excited. She likes to sing, but also loves the instruments and "finger pets" (aka finger puppets) they get to do each week. She's so funny!

Above - with the puppy finger pets
Below - one of the songs we sing with the puppies. They also hide them, sneeze them off the top of their heads. All kinds of fun, silly things. She loves it!

Landon's Firsts

Landon had a few "firsts" tonight:
His first smile. The one captured above is more like the 4th or 5th smile, but the first one happened today too :)

I'm missing a picture of the second "first" of the evening...a big poop out of the top of his diaper. He's done this before - I think only once though - and it wasn't as big as this one :)
After the big poop, it was time for a bath. Daddy's turn while Mommy cleaned up the jammies. Well - it was the first time he peed on Daddy's shirt (Daddy's hoping it's also the last!) :)

Fall Day

It was a beautiful fall day today! After naps and rest time this afternoon we headed out for some fresh air. We had to move the pumpkins to the front porch. We kept most of them in the garage for a while because those silly squirls and chipmunks like to eat them once we put them out. So - we loaded our wagon up with pumpkins from the garage, I carried some on my bike and Grant carried one on his 4-wheeler - and finally got them on the porch. See the pumpkins behind me. Sorry for the crazy hair...these whispy things just never stay back
Raking

We raked all the leaves from our front yard onto a pile. This is how big it was :) Then we tried to jump in it...but it wasn't really big enough. Oh well - it was still fun!

Landon's first wagon ride!

Playing

Hi Everyone! Just a picture of me enjoying some playtime on my playmat. I really like it on this mat. I swing and bat at the dangling animals (since about 5.5 wks). I even coo a bit while playing. Grant and Alayna like to talk to me while I'm on here too!

Setting the Table

Grant and Alayna helped set the table for dinner the other night. Note where everything was placed...right on the edge of the table :)
