Things I Can't Forget

For those of you who actually read this blog....THANK YOU...I'm always hopeful it can be a bit entertaining if nothing else for someone. But really - this blog serves as more of a baby book for my kids. Grant's baby book has not been updated since I believe 6 mos (gee - which is when we found out we were expecting Alayna) and Alayna - well let's just say she has a box with one in and I think her name is in it along with her footprints from when she was born. SO....the following is just a little evening with the kiddos I can't forget.

Well - it was bath night. So both kids in the tub. Alayna has just recently had a fascination with Grant's potty. She is always looking at it and sitting on it and if you give her the chance - she loves to sit on it and "push". In a previous post I talked about how she accidentally pooped in the potty. Since then she has sat on it and pushed....only to REALLY poop a couple seconds later on the floor :( Well - tonight she was in the tub and started saying poopoo. So - does this mean anything? I have no idea - but I was not about to risk poop in the tub. SO...out she came to sit on the potty. Sit, "push" (she does sound effects), up, sit, push, up, etc - over and over. Well one time she got up and there was in fact a small little nugget in there. Oh boy did we make a big deal - "YAYs" all around...M&M treats...the whole bit. As I look closer a minute later I see a little bit more on my towel. Whew - glad I saw that before one of the kids stepped in it. Much to my surprise when I went to put that particular towel in the laundry out fell some more. Gross! Again - thankfully I was the one who found it, but GROSS! Oh well - at least she's interested and not scared of it. Hopefully that never happens :)

Now - on to Grant. We got Alayna put to bed and now it was time for Grant's books, prayer time, etc. Earlier in the night we had taken one of our dolls for a walk and it was laying in his room. We made it a bed and he felt she needed one of his blankets to keep warm tonight. How sweet. He also thought she needed to be kept company by one of his favorite puppys to sleep with - again another sweet gesture. One more buddy for the baby and we were ready to get to bed. What did this leave Grant with for sleeping? His "puppy" - Spot - the stuffed dalmatian that keeps his firetruck bed under control, his puppy's blanket and his blanket (yes - he has 3 "blankets" - his snuggle blanket, the blanket we cover the puppy with and the blanket we cover him with).

So we said prayers with the baby and tucked her back in then it was time to tuck Grant in. Uh-oh - we used the "cover up" blanket for the baby. So I suggested Spot share his blanket. Grant was hesitant, but when I showed him how big it was and that it would fit over him and Spot he was ok with it. So - covered up, snuggled in, hugs n kisses, lights off - "goodnight". A few minutes later I hear a little voice at his gate "Mommy, puppy's takin' the blanket from me" He even demonstrated how Spot pulled it away from him. He didn't want to share I guess. TOO FUNNY! So - I went and had a "talk" with puppy and off to bed they all went.

Gotta love that boy! Good night!

Shana,
I LOVE reading your blog! It makes me almost feel like a part of your family in a way. You guys do so much for your kids, and it makes me want to be a better Mom myself.

And I hear you on the whole "baby book" thing...I think I did great on both of mine until about 1 year old. Now, it's just pictures and some "treasures" from their school days.

You guys are great, and I always look forward to reading what you guys are experiencing in life. God has been good to you all, and your lives are so blessed!
