Contractions at 34 weeks

We are 34.5 weeks and last night I woke up at 1:13am because of contractions. I had them all night - 1:13 til 6 something. They were lasting 20-30 seconds and every 5 mins or so for a while. I could feel the pressure getting a little stronger for a little while. Then I finally got out of bed and went to lay on the couch. For those of us without cable there is absolutely NOTHING on TV at those hours of the morning. I was lucky enough to catch one episode of Cheers and I think the rest of the time was Country Music videos on channel 24.2. Anyway...I was able to dose of here and there, but kept having the contractions. About 5:15 or so I called my dr. He was signed out for the night - so the dr on call called me back. I told him what was going on as well as my past history (labor going pretty quickly) but also mentioned it seemed the contractions were slowing down a bit. He suggested I drink 2-3 huge glasses of water and see if that helps at all. If the contractions stop then we are fine and can just continue on as normal...if they don't stop - obviously come in to Labor and Delivery to get checked out. So - I did that...drank all the water and they stopped. Whew!!!
The following Wed when I was 35 weeks I went in for an NST and asked to be "checked" to see if they contractions had done anything. Thankfully they had not. I'm excited to meet this baby, however would like it to wait until about 38 weeks :)
