How We're Doing

How are the kids doing with the move? Pretty good. The first night was rough. I have to admit - I didn't really think this would be a big deal. We'd been talking about the move for so long, how fun it would be to have their own rooms, etc - they were excited. The kids were also gone for a few days - off with Grandpa and Grandma while we moved - so I was hoping them coming back home to the change of a new room would just be exciting, etc. Well - little sleep, off schedules, everything all new and different - lead to a rough first night. After that though - things started looking up.

When asked if they liked the old house or new house better...Alayna would reply - new house because I have my own and its blue. Grant on the other hand said the old house. Kinda took the wind out of my sail the first time he said it. When asked why...the first time his reason was "because we can't put things on the refrigerator" (we had just been talking about how we couldn't put magnets on this fridge). A day or so later we asked again - which bedroom do you like better. Still Grant says...my old room. WHY?!?!? After a number of times asking we come to find out - he REALLY wanted his name letters put on the wall of his room. He had told me he didn't like the color of his new room - liked the old color better. Well - 2 of the walls are nearly the same color as his old room. He said he wanted it to be red. Finally I started to get it - his name letters on the wall of his old room were painted red (to go with his firetruck bed). SO - first thing going up on the walls in this house will be Grant's name letters. Hopefully soon!
