Butterflies at the Zoo

Every summer the Milwaukee County Zoo brings in a special exhibit to visit. This year the exhibit is BUTTERFLIES! There were 3 nights in June where zoo pass holders could go through the butterfly exhibit free - so we decided to take advantage of a nice, fun family night at the zoo. The exhibit is in its' own special building that is kept at 80 degrees and 80% humidity - yikes!

We were able to see some "up-close and personal"
She looks like she really wants to hold it......but really - she's not so sure.

"It's cool when you hold it Mom" :) The butterflies would fly around and just land on you. It took a while, but eventually started happening to us. It was pretty neat.Grant too...thought he wanted to really hold it

...but oh man it sorta tickles - so he didn't think it was such a great idea afterall :)

Check it out - one landed on Daddy's head. It was really sorta camo in his hair.

Right before we left we caught a ride on the train. They were just about to close down due to some bad weather heading our way, but we got there just on time. Alayna has had a bit of a fear of trains this summer. The beginning of the summer was terrible - she'd run to be held everytime she saw or even heard one in a distance. Tonight she did great though! Way to go Alayna!

Train rides are special things we get to do when Daddy comes with us to the zoo - so the kids really enjoy it.

And this was a pretty cool train "bush"

The storm did hit us at night. We lost power about 10pm and it didn't come back on until the following morning about 9:45...just after I had gone to Walgreens and bought bags of ice and styrofoam coolers for the fridge items. Oh well - at least it was back on (and I could return the coolers)!
