I just have to quick make notes of some funny things Grant has done/said lately so I don't forget - some of his sayings, etc. And also make note of some of the things he is up to lately!
He and Alayna both received flip flops in their Easter baskets. They were both very excited, but haven't been wearing them much (1 because of the weather, but mostly because of their toes). They feel funny and make their toes hurt - so they only ever last a couple minutes. Well - I was explaining to Grant that we have to "break them in" because they are new and our feet aren't used to them from wearing socks all winter. So if we just wear them for little bits of time to "break them in" after a few times they will feel much better and he will be able to wear them this summer. He seemed to get it and would ask quite often if he could wear them for a while. The last few days he's been wearing them more - for much longer periods of time. I heard him say something about them being "all cracked up". I asked him what he was talking about...."all cracked up"? He pointed at his flipflops and said - like these Mommy - I've been wearing them so they are "all cracked up" now. I said - OH...you mean "broken in". He looked at me like it all made total sense - "yeah".
He's learned his left and right. Not sure how exactly. We worked on it a little, but not a ton. He does well though when you ask him which is which or to turn a certain way.
He's been pretending to shoot guns lately so we had to have a talk about shooting at people, the correct things to use guns for, if/when it's ok to "play" guns, etc. Well - I started the conversation - explaining that it's never ok to shoot people or even pretend to shoot people, etc and Brian picked up with what is ok to shoot. He started with deer and moved on. The next thing I know - I'm asking Grant about the conversation and he says "We never shoot people, only deer and cats"...very matter-of-factly. So - there you have it. Sorry for those of you who love cats or have them as pets - I just want to make it clear that I did not teach him that part!
He loves to chew gum! Thinks he's pretty big stuff when he gets to have some.
Just learned this past week how to pump on a swing! HOORAY! I tried to teach him last summer - didn't work. Then we've been working on it a bit this spring - but pumping seems to be one of those things that is really hard to teach. I think he almost had it a month or so ago and then I tried to tell him to lean back a little when he kicked his legs out in front. MISTAKE - that goofed everything else up. Oh well! So - last week he was doing it! Now - he can keep himself going on the swing!
