Grant Arthur - 19mos and His Weight

Grant turned 19 mos old last week. Lucky for me we happened to have their pictures taken that day b/c this was the first time in all of his 19 mos that I did not take a picture of him on the 4th of the month :( Here is a pic of him from the next day.

What is Grant up to? He loves being outside. Several times a day he will ask for his coat or hat and say "side?" (aka - outside). Last week we scored big at the Tosa Rummages. We now have a slide, slide and swing set and a sandbox for the back yard. YEAH!!!! This is great - we no longer have to go to the park for something to do. We haven't had very great weather since then - so he hasn't used it a ton, but will soon we hope.

He has also become even more talkative over the past few days. Saying words like pen, keys, try again, candy :), hammer... He loves keys and asks for them over and over and over. He is also loving his "pound-pound" (hammer).

Grant is also becoming a bit more mischevious. He knows when mommy can't do much about what he is doing (when I am nursing Alayna) and that is when he chooses to do things like - go behind the end table and chair, pull on the blinds and the curtains, etc He is also screetching. This really is painful on the ears. Brian and I remember our niece and nephew going through this phase and thinking - what are these kids doing? Now - our kid is doing it :) OUCH!

Overall, Grant is still a great little boy!

Today we had an appointment for Grant at Children's Hospital due to his lack of weight gain. He weighed 20 lbs 10 oz (still not on the charts for a 19 mo old little boy.) We met with a nurse, dietician and doctor specializing in nutrition/weight issues with kids. Good news - after describing everything to the doctor (what he eats, his ear infections and other recent illnesses, his eating schedule, etc) the doctor does not think there is anything "wrong" with him. We will continue once again to add calories to Grant's diet anywhere we can for the next 2 months. In early August, we will head back to the doctor to see if things have changed at all (weight wise). If they have not - there will be some further tests the doctor will order. We had a few tests done today - blood and stool. If these tests results would come back abnormally, we would go back prior to the early August appointment - so please pray they do not.

For the most part, Brian and I believe Grant is just a little boy. There is nothing truly "wrong" with him - he is just little. BUT - there is always that little voice in the back of my head saying "what if" it is something else. SOOOO...please pray it is nothing!
